On the occasion of the EnergYear Forums held in Colombia between May 29 and 30th, the specialized magazine Energía Estratégica interviewed José Luis Fayos, CEO of Axial Structural Solutions during the event.
“There is a great potential for project development in Latin America,” said José Luis Fayos at the beginning of an interview that focused on the current situation of the solar energy sector in Latin America, and especially in Colombia, where the government is playing an important role.
Axial Structural Solutions is a leading company in the sector in Latin America, where we lead projects in countries such as Mexico, Chile, Bolivia, Colombia and the Dominican Republic.
This experience in the sector is what allows us to talk about costs and the current and future situation of the sector at a global level: “The photovoltaic market needs constant cost optimization, we need to be competitive with other sectors,” Fayos said.
Solar Tracker vs Fixed structures
In the words of our CEO, the solar tracker allows more optimization to a solar plant, due to its greater efficiency in generation. However, “the tracker can not be installed in all projects”, since, depending on the type of geographical location, its weather conditions may prevent its installation.
For this reason, Axial Structural Solutions is committed to a parallel development of both types of structures, according to the needs of each project. While we promote the launch of our Axial Tracker with Blocking System we also have more than 800 megabytes in fixed structures in different countries of the world.
Growth expectations in Colombia
“Colombia is a great country for business development,” says Fayos. For the CEO of Axial Structural Solutions, “the role of the government and the Public Administration is important because it is listening to the sector to do things right and start with success from the beginning,” he explained, referring to the bidding framework that is being discussed to create in the country for the revitalization of the sector.
“We are at a very promising and motivating moment in Colombia,” added Fayos.
Axial Tracker as an efficient and safe option
At Axial Structural Solutions we are committed to boosting the efficiency of the solar plants where our products are installed: “The commitment is that the plants in which an Axial Tracker is installed are more efficient than those in which another product is installed,” Fayos explained.
An objective that is met with our new Axial Tracker with Blocking System, in which we have worked for years to provide safety and efficiency, and minimize the risks that may be due to the interaction of our structures and adverse weather conditions, such as wind.
“We are one of the main manufacturers of trackers in the market and we will have to be one of the main suppliers of the Colombian market as well,” concluded the CEO of Axial Structural Solutions.
