Axial Structural continues its expansion in Europe with the award of a new project for the supply of a 27MW photovoltaic plant to be located in Leiria (Portugal). This new step consolidates the company’s position in the Portuguese country and comes in addition to the 22MW granted in another project in Portugal.
Following the line of customized works that we develop in Axial Structural, adapting to the topographic needs of each project, for this Portuguese plant awarded by the German company ib vogt, a hybrid system will be used in which both fixed structural systems and trackers are combined.
In this way, the use of technology is optimized in a terrain characterized by very steep slopes, of up to 30%. Thus, in the less hilly areas, 3V Fixed Structures will be installed, which account for more than 17MW of the project’s power. Meanwhile, in those areas with steeper slopes, the AxialTracker 2VTT will be installed, completing the total supply with 9.6MW of power.
The AxialTracker 2VTT solar tracker allows for increased efficiency while maintaining the same level of safety as the previous model. Thanks to the controlled traction system, the 2V has exponentially increased its operating speed and has managed to optimize and simplify its assembly process, reducing the number of references by 30%.
Work is scheduled to begin in the second quarter of the year and the plant, which will generate 44GWh/year, supplying 13,500 homes and avoiding the emission of 9,000 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere each year, is expected to be completed in the last four months of 2023.
